As an alternative, I’ve been suggesting studio shoots to my couples. They give engagements and milestone shoots an extra edge, or elevation. It’s a blank canvas; a creative space open to all possibilities. I’ve found recently that working in-studio has made me feel even more artistic and inspired
Their wedding had already been so lovely; it was hard to imagine it getting any lovelier. Let me paint a scene for you: Manny’s on stage, microphone in hand, singing his heart out in karaoke while Jade lines up the perfect break in a game of pool. Plates are filled with mac n cheese, cocktails are abundant, and everyone’s fits look like they belong on a rolling stone cover. There’s laughter, there’s song, there’s cheers-ing and cheering.
Elopements are a special kind of magic. Short, sweet, intimate, and deserving of a beautiful backdrop. Something worthy of the raw, gorgeous moments you’re sharing with your partner. Natural beauty to match the most natural thing of all, love.
This handsome couple hails from Michigan but came out to visit and celebrate being newly engaged. Spending an evening with them, I realized I’ve never spent time with a couple quite like them, the perfect balance between whimsical and sophisticated. They’re so naturally photogenic and genuinely had fun from start to finish. I think you can tell by those sweet little smiles.
I’m head over heels for this couple. Lex and Taylor’s family matched their spunk and made this event feel so warm. Well, the tequila shots certainly helped make the event feel warm. Thunderbird Lounge, an absolute staple of Downtown Phoenix is one of the swankiest places I’ve ever attended a wedding. Pinball machines, cocktails, and vegan skull cake (luv you forever dark hall coffee) completed the party of their dreams.
Their meet-cute was by way of a set-up. Brooke and Ryan’s parents were good friends and after a quick introduction at a pizza place, they fell in love. Brooke and Ryan are both so charismatic and just such a joy to be around.
Wedding’s that ooze the couple’s personality are always my favorite. Neither of Molly or Bobby had ever been to a wedding before which I think was such a blessing. They had zero expectations and were truly just ready to party. Like Molly’s fringe-lined bridal robe, these two do everything in style!
Shooting at the Grand Canyon with these two was such a dream. I honestly can’t believe how perfect they look, as if painted onto the backdrop. The breeze would pick up Alana’s veil while Brian was gazing at her lovingly; I was squealing inside.
I gotta say, that hike was more challenging than I was anticipating. Some huffing and puffing is good for the soul right? But not to worry, it was all worth it in the end. I’m so so happy with the final photos, and so excited to see one of my photos printed and hung in their new home.
Jenna and Blake are from Kentucky but came out to Phoenix for their babymoon. Lucky for me they found me on Instagram and knew they wanted to schedule a shoot. And what’s a more perfect time for a photoshoot than when you’re relaxed and refreshed on a babymoon.
“Don’t be offended, but I definitely won’t remember your name,” were Katie’s first words to Rafe when they met at a pool party their first week of PA school. Welp, in Rafe’s words “turns out she did.”
While family photos might not seem like the highlight of the wedding day, they are some of the most cherished images. Capturing the best family photos just takes a few extra steps of preparation.
